Louisiana's Roll of Honor - Global War on Terror

Here are the names of Louisiana military members who have died in the Global War on Terror, specifically in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, Sept. 11, 2001 through the present day. Where possible, a link to the servicemembrs' entries on the Find-a-Grave website is provided. Soldiers from other states who served with deployed Louisiana units at the time of their deaths also are listed. Ranks and grades may vary among sources as many soldiers were promoted posthumously. This site is limited to military personnel and civilians associated with the military who died in recognized war zones, such as Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, which includes not only Afghanistan but also such areas as the Horn of Africa, or stateside from the direct result of their military service. Please note that this list does not include personnel who died in training or transit accidents outside war zones, which can cause some discrepancies from the list maintained by the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs. The state list includes some military personnel killed in accidents or homicides after their return from military service, not from military causes, as well as active-duty soldiers from other states who were assigned to Fort Polk in Vernon Parish, who are not included here unless they claimed the state as their home. Information on the soldiers is subject to change, and may vary from source to source. Information in this list has been culled from official military, published media and Louisiana sources, as well as through research by The Times at Shreveport. Updates and corrections emailed to John Andrew Prime at jprime@gannett.com or japrime@bellsouth.net will be incorporated into the listing as appropriate. Information in this site is public and may not be sold or copyrighted by any third parties. If information from this site is used in other settings credit in the form of a citation to the URL http://bellsouthpwp2.net/j/a/japrime/soldiers.htm is requested.
