Cemetery upkeep

The Bailey Camp hopes to survey, evaluate, repair, replace or augment the graves of Union soldiers buried in Caddo and adjacent parishes and counties. Some graves have been damaged by weather, by time or by vandals of course, but others have suffered from well-intentioned but misguided efforts of amateur historians and researchers who have tried to repair or clean markers. It is quite easy to ruin grave markers with wire brushes, shaving cream and cleansers. A guide to proper cemetery guardianship has been prepared by Michigan Historic Cemeteries and it is available online by clicking on this link.
