Louisiana's Roll of Honor - Indian Wars

Here are the names of Louisiana military members who died in the Indian Wars, 1849-1900. This list is based on archival, public and private lists that in some case vary in terms of numbers of soldiers, names and dates of loss. Ranks and grades may vary among sources as many soldiers were promoted posthumously. Updates and corrections emailed to John Andrew Prime at jprime@gannett.com or japrime@bellsouth.net will be incorporated into the listing as appropriate. Information in this site is public and may not be sold or copyrighted by any third parties. If information from this site is used in other settings credit in the form of a citation to the URL http://bellsouthpwp2.net/j/a/japrime/soldiers.htm or to the appropriate sub-page is requested.

Foster, Lt. Claiborne L., died August 1890, circumstances unknown. A memorial to him is in Greenwood Cemetery. This presumably was moved there from Oakland Cemetery, since Greenwood was not in existence at the time of the soldier's death. Lamentably undetailed obituaries for this young man appear in The Shreveport Times on Aug. 12 and Aug. 15, 1890.

The full soldiers list is under construction. Return to this site later to check on program progress.
